Well, put Alex! But does anyone else on the list has experience tweaking smooth wall to generate emails based on attack types or fw rules.

everything which Smoothwall is doing can be implemented in different
ways, using free tools. Whether you want to spend 2 weeks tinkering
about and implementing your 'perfect' setup is probably a cost:benefit
decision you need to make ;)
The most important question, in my opinion: does the product do what
you want, is it 99% there?
As to whether the product is good - only you can answer that :) That's
like asking, "How long is a piece of string?" or "What is the best
editor?" -- it will always cause people of different opinions to spout
"It's complete bollocks" vs "It's the best thing ever" and none of
those people are you, so it's pretty irrelevent spouting!
