White hat hackers use game consoles, handheld PCs to crack networks from the inside out.

An intersting and possibly useful technique, no doubt, but it occurs to me that if this would be an incredibly risky tool for a cracker to use. The one advantage that crackers have long held is that their intrusions leave little to nothing in the way of traditional physical evidence (fingerprints, hair and fiber, images on security camera's etc..) to use this box for malicious purposes would require extreme physical precautions, a dreamcast, while small, is a much bigger calling card than an IDS log, especially if your fingerprints are all over the case, your hair and skin cells are in the cooling fan, fibers from your carpet, all combined make for a pretty big head start for the prosecution. In short I don't think that I will be sending out patrols to search for wayward Dreamcasts anytime soon.
