A Mickey Mouse Bill
David Banisar, 2002-04-01

The Hollings copyright bill would shoehorn absurd copy-blocking technology into everything from your Palm Pilot to your digital camera. Is this progress?

A Mickey Mouse Bill < The Big Picture DEFINED 2002-04-18
well imformed
So under this new law if I make a program at my business and sell it without a goverment copyright I can do time in Federal prison and fines in the six figures range. Can you honestly tell me that the US Corporate Entities envolved are not going crazy ? maybe not,let me explain it in broader terms
The scary thing that most of you do not understand is the BIG picture ! I hate to tell you but eventually everthing from toasters to your car will have a embedded Operating system and some cars already do.If you do not beleive me go
to Nextel,G.E.,or any big electronics manifacturer's website
and you will see, they have embedded OS's in almost everthing
that has a chip ! The really scaring thing is that when IP version 6 is in full use they will have enough ip addresses to give them all a ip address, just imagine "The Corporate Dream" you wake up in the moring and turn on your coffee maker it automatically searches for the DHCP server and get's it's ip address and then the radio too ! so then a specialized radio commercial comes on the radio to tell you to check and see if you are running low on coffee. You may think that is crazy but Bill Gates wants to do just that and he is not the only one ! The FDA just approved the "Verichip" which is a embbeded chip to put inside a human, they say for medical purposes, right ....The technolgy
is not going to stop so it is up to us to be the gatekeepers
but I am afraid that proverbial fox is watching the hen house! This all smacks of Big Brother and I don't mean the software product! Think about it,Embedded OS,a zillion ip addresses,Embedded chips for humans = a very scary possibility ! We have to fight this bill and everyone of it's kind
